Al Wasl's first football team secured a victory in its opening friendly match of the pre-season training camp currently being held in the Netherlands, defeating Utrecht 2-1 as part of its preparations for the 2026–2027 sports season. Renato Junior and Malik Janeer scored Al Wasl's two goals.

The match came as part of the team's preparation plan aimed at raising the fitness and match readiness of the first-team players, while providing the opportunity for the largest possible number of players to participate in competitive action, assess their readiness, and build cohesion among the squad ahead of the start of the new season.
