Al Wasl exited the President’s Cup in the Round of 16 after losing to hosts Dibba in a penalty shootout (5–6), in the match that brought the two teams together at Dibba Stadium, following the end of regular and extra time in a 2–2 draw.

In midfield: Serginho, Nicolas Gimenez, Malek Janeer, N’Guessan Jean, and Ali Saleh, while Adama Diallo led the attack.

Al Wasl began the match with an attacking approach in search of an early goal, and the first quarter of an hour witnessed clear dominance for Al Wasl over the course of play, but it did not result in any goals.

The “Emperor” continued attacking pressure and succeeded in opening the scoring through Serginho in the 40th minute, after a long pass from Nicolas Gimenez. He penetrated into Dibba’s penalty area, dribbled past the defense, and followed up a rebound from goalkeeper Eisa Al Hoti into the net.

Al Wasl’s attacks on Dibba’s goal continued, and Serginho almost scored the second goal for the “Emperor” in the 64th minute, but his shot went past the post. Serginho took a red card in the the 70th minute.

The post denied Adryelson from scoring in the 78th minute after he headed a cross prepared by Saldanha inside Dibba’s penalty area.

Regular time ended in a 1–1 draw between the two teams, sending the match into extra time, during which Salem Al Azeezi, Siaka Sidibe, and Brahian Palacios came on as substitutes for Rodrigo Oliveira, Malek Janeer, and Ali Saleh.

Dibba relied on defensive compactness in the face of Al Wasl’s intense attacking pressure, which did not produce goals until the 112th minute, when Brahian Palacios succeeded in scoring with a powerful left-footed strike from outside the penalty area. Habib Abdallah then equalized in the 117th minute, delaying settling the match until the penalty shootout, which Dibba won.
