Al Wasl first football team lost to Belgian side Beveren by one goal to nil, in a match that came as part of the team's preparation programme ahead of the start of the new football season.

This friendly encounter represents an important step for the technical staff to assess the players' technical and physical levels, apply some tactical ideas, attempt to increase cohesion among the team players, and raise their readiness.

Al Wasl were awarded a penalty kick in the closing minutes of the match, which was taken by Brazilian striker Saldanha, but the Beveren goalkeeper saved it, denying Al Wasl the equaliser.
