Al Wasl achieved victory over its Jordanian counterpart Al Wehdat with a score of two goals to one, within the matches of the sixth round of the first group competitions in the AFC Champions League 2, thus confirming its topping of the group standings.
Al Wasl entered the match with a lineup that included Khaled Al Senani as the goalkeeper, and in front of him in the defensive line Yousif Al Mheiri, Hugo Neto, Adryelson Silva, and Pedro Malheiro. In midfield, Renato Tapia, Serginho, Siaka Sidibe, Brahian Palacios, and Fabio Lima participated, while Matheus Saldanha led the attack.
Al Wasl started the match strongly and applied early pressure in search of the opening goal, and succeeded in that in the nineteenth minute, after Adryelson Silva scored the opening goal with a powerful header that found the net, following a well-executed corner kick taken by Pedro Malheiro.
Al Wasl continued its attempts during the first half, with the most notable chance being Pedro Malheiro’s shot from outside the penalty area in the forty-fifth minute, which was caught by the Al Wehdat goalkeeper.
In the second half, head coach Mesut Meral made several substitutions, with Hugo Neto and Brahian Palacios going off, and Abdelrahman Saleh and Ali Saleh coming on. Matheus Saldanha and Serginho were also substituted, with Adama Diallo and Nicolas Gimenez coming in their place, while Malek Janeer participated as a substitute for Yousif Al Mheiri.
In the seventy-first minute, Mostafa Moawad managed to equalize the score in favor of Al Wehdat, before Al Wasl responded quickly with the second goal through Fabio Lima in the seventy-ninth minute, after following up Nicolas Gimenez’s shot that rebounded from the Al Wehdat goalkeeper and placing it into the net.
Al Wasl continued its pressure to increase the score, and the crossbar denied Ali Saleh from scoring the third goal in the eighty-sixth minute, after a beautiful cross towards the Al Wehdat goal. Adama Diallo scored a third goal for Al Wasl in the eighty-seventh minute, but it was disallowed for offside.
The result remained unchanged until the final whistle, as Al Wasl achieved a victory by two goals to one.
