The goalless draw decided the match between Al-Wasl and its guest Ajman within the competitions of the eighth round of the ADNOC Pro League.
Al-Wasl entered the match with a lineup that included: Mohamed Al-Wali in goal, and in front of him the back four Pedro Malheiro, Soufiane Bouftini, Adryelson Silva, and Abdelrahman Saleh. In midfield played Brahian Palacios, Siaka Sidibé, Renato Tapia, Serginho, and Ali Saleh, while Matheus Saldanha led the attack.
Al-Wasl began the match with a strong desire to snatch an early goal, and its players succeeded in threatening Ajman’s goal on several occasions. The most notable attempts came in the eighteenth minute, when Serginho received an accurate long pass from Saldanha that penetrated Ajman’s defense, but goalkeeper Ali Al-Hosani caught the ball. Two minutes later, Serginho struck a ball from a direct free kick, but it went wide of the goal.

In the forty-fifth minute, the referee showed the red card to Ajman player Walid Azzaro.
In the second half, Ajman retreated defensively in front of Al-Wasl’s attacks, and coach Mesut Meral made several substitutions to increase attacking pressure, bringing on Malek Janeer, Renato Junior, Salem Al-Azeezi, and Hugo Neto as substitutes for Renato Tapia, Serginho, Abdelrahman Saleh, and Pedro Malheiro.

Al-Wasl continued its pressure searching for the opening goal, and Serginho played a long ball to Ali Saleh, who sent a cross that was cleared by the defense and reached Palacios. The latter laid it off for Malheiro, but the latter did not succeed in scoring.
Al-Wasl’s chances continued, as Saldanha fired a powerful left-footed shot in the sixty-fourth minute, which Al-Hosani pushed away. Then Palacios delivered a high ball toward Bouftini inside the penalty area in the eighty-fifth minute, but it was not converted into a goal. A dangerous chance also went to Renato Junior in the eighty-ninth minute after a pass from Sidibé, but he was unable to score.

The match continued with the same result in the final minutes, and the referee’s whistle announced the end of the encounter with a goalless draw.
