Al Wasl lost to their guests Khorfakkan by one goal to nil, in the fourteenth round of the ADNOC Pro League.
Al Wasl started the match with the following lineup: Mohammed Al Wali as goalkeeper; the defensive quartet Hugo Neto, Adryelson Silva, Soufiane Bouftini and Pedro Malheiro. In midfield were Ali Saleh, Nicolas Gimenez, Malek Janeer, Siaka Sidibé and Serginho, while Miguel Borja led the attack.
Al Wasl began the match with attempts to score against Khorfakkan. In the fifteenth minute, Pedro Malheiro played a high ball that deceived the goalkeeper but hit the side netting.
Khorfakkan took the lead through Tarik Tissoudali in the seventeenth minute.
In the eighteenth minute, Siaka attempted to score with a powerful shot that was caught by goalkeeper Ahmed Hamdan. The most dangerous chance came in the thirty-seventh minute when Hugo Neto broke through and fired a strong shot that was pushed away by the Khorfakkan goalkeeper, with the ball falling to Serginho, who tried to score but the goalkeeper collected his effort.
In the second half, and in an effort to strengthen the attack, head coach Mesut Meral brought on Fabio Lima as a substitute for Malek Janeer. Adama Diallo and Brahian Palacios also came on in place of Serginho and Miguel Borja, while Gabriel da Silva replaced Siaka Sidibe.
Al Wasl continued their attacks in search of an equalizer. Serginho tried to score in the fifty-fifth minute, but his shot was cleared by the defense.
The crossbar denied Al Wasl the equalizer after a powerful header from Siaka Sidibé following a cross by Ali Saleh in the seventy-eighth minute.
Khorfakkan dropped back and defended deep against Al Wasl’s attacks, which failed to bear fruit. Ali Saleh nearly scored in the seventh minute of stoppage time, but the Khorfakkan goalkeeper saved his effort, after which the referee’s whistle announced Khorfakkan’s 1–0 victory.
