Al Wasl achieved a 2-1 victory over its guest Kalba in the 26th and final round of the ADNOC Pro League.
Head coach Rui Vitória’s choices for the match included Suhail Abdulla in goal, with the defensive quartet of Abdelrahman Saleh, Gabriel Da Silva, Adryelson Silva, and Pedro Malheiro. In midfield were Serginho, Fabio Lima, Malek Janeer, Siaka Sidibe, and Ali Saleh, while Renato Junior led the attack.
Al Wasl imposed its superiority from the opening minutes and started the match with intense attacking pressure in search of the opening goal. Renato Junior succeeded in scoring in the 10th minute after receiving a precise long pass from Abdelrahman Saleh, which he successfully placed into the net.
The Emperor continued its attacking attempts to strengthen the lead, and Fabio Lima almost scored the second goal in the 17th minute after an organized move that began with a cross from Pedro Malheiro towards Serginho, who cleverly set the ball for Lima to strike powerfully, but Kalba goalkeeper Sultan Al Al Manthari held onto the ball.
Despite Al Wasl’s superiority, Kalba managed to equalize in the 20th minute through Leandro Spadacio Leite.
The yellow pressure did not decrease after the equalizer, as Al Wasl threatened Kalba’s goal again in the 26th minute through a powerful left-footed strike from Serginho outside the penalty area, following a beautiful long pass from Pedro Malheiro.
Al Wasl’s attempts to score continued strongly in the second half, and Ali Saleh almost scored the second goal from a direct free kick that nearly entered the goal before being cleared by Kalba’s goalkeeper in the 53rd minute.
Head coach Rui Vitória made substitutions, bringing on Renato Tapia in place of Malek Janeer and Brahian Palacios instead of Siaka Sidibe, while Fabio Lima, Ali Saleh, and Abdelrahman Saleh left the field for Miguel Borja, Joao Ferreira, and Hugo Neto.
Luck denied Serginho a goal from a direct free kick in the 60th minute after his shot struck both the near and far posts. Shortly after coming on, in the 79th minute, Miguel Borja scored Al Wasl’s second goal with a header following a beautiful cross from Brahian Palacios and a fine leap to brilliantly place the ball into Kalba’s net, announcing the Emperor’s 2-1 victory and confirming Al Wasl’s third-place finish in the league table with 48 points.
