Al Wasl Sports Club, in cooperation with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, organized a lecture for the youth basketball players entitled "Honouring Parents and Respecting Elders", as part of the club’s cultural and educational programs aimed at building a balanced personality that combines athletic excellence with moral commitment.
The lecture addressed the status of parents in Islam and the great Favour they hold in the lives of their children, in addition to the importance of obeying them and showing kindness to them in word and deed.
It was also emphasized that a true athlete’s success is not limited to achieving championships and titles, but also includes embodying good morals, respect, and appreciation towards family and society, especially parents, as their satisfaction is a reason for success in life, whether in sports, studies, or personal life. Honouring and serving one’s parents is considered one of the most important measures of ethics that every young Muslim should uphold, and it is a cause for happiness in this life and the hereafter.
The lecture also addressed the importance of respecting elders and the role of this respect in building healthy human relationships inside and outside the club, as respect is considered one of the fundamental values that reflect the image of an ideal player and their exemplary sports behaviour.
