
At Khalid bin Mohammed Stadium in Sharjah, in the fourth round of ADNOC Pro League, Al Wasl defeated Al Bataeh by one goal to nil.
The lineup of Al Wasl for the match came as follows: Mohammed Al Wali as goalkeeper, and in front of him the defensive quartet Pedro Malheiro, Adryelson Silva, Soufiane Bouftini, and Hugo Neto. In midfield were Serginho, Fabio De Lima, Renato Tapia, Siaka Sidibe, and Ali Saleh, with Renato Junior at the front.
Al Wasl began the match pressing in search of the opening goal, and Siaka Sidibe almost opened the scoring for Al Wasl in the tenth minute after a precise cross from Hugo Neto, but his ball struck the post.
In the sixteenth minute, Serginho played a long pass into the penalty area to Ali Saleh, who struck it powerfully, but Al Bataeh’s goalkeeper Ibrahim Essa pushed the ball away.
Al Wasl’s attacks on Al Bataeh’s goal continued, and Ali Saleh managed to open the scoring in the twenty-ninth minute with a powerful ball inside the penalty area, set up for him by Siaka Sidibe with a header after it was cleared by Al Bataeh’s defense. He controlled it wonderfully and shot it strongly with his right foot to lodge it in the net.
In the second half, coach Luís Castro made substitutions to strengthen the attacking side, with the participation of Abdelrahman Saleh and N'Guessan Jean as substitutes for Siaka Sidibe and Hugo Neto, and the entrance of Matheus Saldanha, Tahnoon Al Zaabi, and Adama Diallo in place of Fabio Lima, Renato Junior, and Serginho.
Al Wasl continued in attempts to score and threaten Al Bataeh’s goal in the second half, but his players’ attempts lacked success.
In the eighty-first minute, Matheus Saldanha almost scored the second goal for Al Wasl from an outstanding individual effort and a quick run into Al Bataeh’s penalty area, but Al Bataeh’s goalkeeper saved his ball.
The match maintained its result until the final whistle, which announced Al Wasl’s victory over its host Al-Bataeh with a clean goal, for the Emperor to add three points to its tally.
