Al Wasl defeats Al Bataeh with a goal by Gimenez

Al Wasl defeated its guest Al Bataeh 1-0 in the matches of the seventeenth round of the ADNOC Pro League.

Al Wasl entered the match with a lineup that included Khaled Al Senani in goal, and in front of him in defense were Hugo Neto, Adryelson Silva, Soufiane Bouftini and Pedro Malheiro. In midfield played Ali Saleh, Nicolas Gimenez, Renato Tapia, Siaka Sidibe and Brahian Palacios, while Renato Junior led the attack.

Al Wasl started the match with intense attacking pressure in search of the opening goal, trying to reach Al Bataeh’s goal early. The most dangerous chance came in the 22nd minute when Renato Junior fired a powerful shot from inside the penalty area that was caught by Al Bataeh goalkeeper Abdulrahman Mubarak. The same striker returned to threaten the goal with a strong header that almost found the net before the goalkeeper cleared it away in the 25th minute.

Nicolas Gimenez put Al Wasl ahead in the 34th minute with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area after a cross played by Ali Saleh into the box. Al Bataeh’s defense cleared it to reach him, and he placed it into the net in a beautiful manner. Two minutes later, Palacios tried with a great individual effort and a strong left-footed shot that Al Bataeh’s goalkeeper saved with difficulty.

At the start of the second half, head coach Rui Vitória made a change by bringing on Fabio Lima in place of Siaka Sidibe, Malek Janeer instead of Adryelson Silva who left the field due to injury, while Yousif Al Mheiri came on for Brahian Palacios. Serginho replaced Nicolas Gimenez, and Miguel Borja came on instead of Renato Junior.

Al Wasl continued its attacks to score more goals, while Al Bataeh retreated under the yellow pressure. Referee Rawdha Al Mansoori showed a red card to Ali Saleh in the 74th minute.

Trying to score, Renato Tapia fired a powerful shot in the 81st minute from outside the penalty area, but luck was not on his side.

Fabio Lima passed the ball to Serginho in the seventh minute of stoppage time, who launched a quick attack inside Al Bataeh’s penalty area but failed to score.

The match continued without change in the result, ending with Al Wasl winning 1-0.
