Al Wasl lined up with Yann Llahona in goal, while the defense consisted of Lucas Souza Silva, Abdallah Hausawi, Gabriel Vareta and Ahmed Nasser Al Obaidli. In midfield were Saif Nasser, Joao Ferreira, Abdulla Ahmed, Dimas Filho and Naif Ahmed, with Rabee Hassan Salmin in attack.

The match started at a fast pace from both teams, and Shabab Al Ahli took the lead in the second minute through Yassine Boualam. Two minutes later, Ghaith Bader Suhail scored Shabab Al Ahli's second goal.

Al Wasl tried to reduce the deficit, and Gabriel Vareta succeeded in doing so in the thirtieth minute. Thiago Scarpino scored Shabab Al Ahli's third goal in the thirty-second minute.

In the second half, and to enhance the attacking effectiveness, Al Wasl head coach Ahmed Cebe made substitutions, bringing on Abou Ibrahima Konate, Rashed Almazrooei and Mohammed Al Mehairi in place of Dimas Filho, Abdulla Ahmed and Ahmed Nasser Al Obaidli.

Al Wasl's pressure resulted in three goals, with Naif Ahmed scoring a brace in the fifty-fourth and eighty-third minutes. Gabriel Vareta also scored Al Wasl's third goal, and his second, in the sixty-eighth minute. Both were substituted in the eighty-fifth minute, with Tarek Issaoui replacing Gabriel Vareta, and Juan Campos coming on for Naif Ahmed.

Al Wasl maintained their lead, but against the run of play, Khalifa Ababacar Cisse scored the equalizer for Shabab Al Ahli in the fifth minute of added time.
