Al Wasl Defeats Khorfakkan with Five Goals

Al Wasl defeated its guest Khorfakkan by five goals to two, for the fourth round of the ADNOC Pro League.

The choices of the first team’s head coach, Mr. Rui Vitória, for the match were as follows: Dinko Horkas in goal; the defensive quartet Hugo Neto, Adryelson Silva, Soufiane Bouftini, and Pedro Malheiro; in midfield Serginho, Nicolas Gimenez, Ridwan Popoola, Siaka Sidibe, and Brahian Palacios; and in front Mehdi Taremi.

Al Wasl started the match with an offensive pressure and took the initiative from the beginning. The first attempt was by Pedro Malheiro in the seventh minute with a cross cleared by the defense, and three minutes later Mehdi Taremi tried to score after a precise cross, but his ball passed beside the post.

The Al Wasl attacks bore fruit with the opening goal in the seventeenth minute, after a direct free kick taken by Nicolas Gimenez bounced off Khorfakkan goalkeeper Ahmed Al-Hosani, for Siaka Sidibe to follow it into the net. Nicolas Gimenez added the second goal for Al Wasl from the penalty spot in the twenty-third minute.

In the second half, Junior Flemmings reduced the margin for Khorfakkan in the fifty-first minute.

To reinforce the offensive pressure, Al Wasl head coach Rui Vitória made substitutions, bringing on Ali Saleh and Fabio Lima in place of Siaka Sidibe and Brahian Palacios, while Hugo Neto left to be replaced by Abdelrahman Saleh. Renato Junior also entered as a substitute for Mehdi Taremi, and Sasa Ivkovic replaced Adryelson Silva.

Al Wasl's response came quickly with a goal through Pedro Malheiro in the sixtieth minute with a powerful ball from outside the penalty area, following a precise assist from Serginho.

Al Wasl increased its goal tally in the seventy-sixth minute with a goal scored by Akram Nakach into his own net by mistake. Renato Junior was close to scoring the fifth goal in the eighty-third minute, but his ball passed beside the post.

In the eighty-fifth minute, Junior Flemmings scored the second goal for Khorfakkan, and Renato Junior responded with the fifth goal for Al Wasl in the second minute of injury time.
