Al Wasl defeated hosts Kalba 5-3 in the 26th round of the U23 Pro League.
Al Wasl head coach Tiago Teixeira’s line-up included Yousuf Alrahma in goal, with Khalid Ali, Laelson Leandro, Abdallah Hausawi and Abdullah Bader Marzooq in defence. In midfield were Abdulla Ahmed, Ali Ismail Madani and Dimas Filho, while the attacking trio consisted of Rabie Hassan Salmin, Mario Zacarias and Naif Ahmed.
Al Wasl began the match with attacking pressure, but Ahmed Al Naqbi gave Kalba the lead in the sixth minute. Al Wasl responded with two goals, scored by Mario Zacarias in the seventeenth minute and Naif Ahmed in the nineteenth minute.
In the second half, head coach Tiago Teixeira made substitutions, bringing on Mohammed Fouad Ayoun, Rashid Al Mazrooei and Saif Nasser in place of Ali Ismail Madani, Dimas Filho and Naif Ahmed. Yousif Al Rahma and Abdullah Bader Marzooq also made way for Saood Essa Al Balooshi and Faris Khalil.
Kalba scored the equaliser in the forty-seventh minute through Ahmed Yadoo, but Al Wasl responded quickly through Saif Nasser three minutes later.
Al Wasl continued their attacking pressure and Mario Zacarias scored the fourth goal in the sixty-second minute. In the seventy-sixth minute, Ahmed Abunamous scored for Kalba, before Mohammed Fouad Ayoun wrapped up the scoring with the fifth goal in the eighty-eighth minute.
With this victory, Al Wasl raised their tally to 40 points and moved into fourth place temporarily, pending the completion of the remaining matches of the twenty-sixth and final round of the league.
