Al Wasl FC secures qualification to the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League 2

Al Wasl qualified for the quarterfinal stage after defeating Al Zawraa SCof Iraq  4–2 in the second leg of the Round of 16 of the AFC Champions League 2, following a match that went into extra time.
Al Wasl’s lineup for the match was as follows: Khaled Al Senani in goal; Gabriel Vareta, Hugo Neto, Adryelson Silva, and Pedro Malheiro in defense.
In midfield were Siaka Sidibé, Ali Saleh, Fábio Lima, Renato Tapia, and Nicolas Giménez, while the attack was led by Miguel Borja.
Al Wasl began the match with early pressure in search of a goal, and the first attempt came from Nicolas Giménez with a powerful shot that went over the crossbar.
Al Zawraa took the lead through Ibrahim Gbadamosi in the twenty-first minute.
Al Wasl players tried to reduce the deficit, and the Al Zawraa goalkeeper saved a strong shot from Nicolas Giménez in the twenty-sixth minute.
Al Wasl’s attacks continued, as the goalkeeper cleared a header from Fábio Lima in the thirty-sixth minute. Gabriel Vareta then attempted a header in the forty-second minute after a cross from Hugo Neto, and two minutes later the Al Zawraa goalkeeper denied a powerful shot from Siaka Sidibé.
Nicolas Giménez tried again with a strong long-range effort in the third minute of added time, but the goalkeeper pushed the ball away.
At the start of the second half, head coach Rui Vitória made attacking substitutions, bringing on Brahian Palacios for Fábio Lima, Malek Janeer for Renato Tapia, Serginho for Ali Saleh, and Abdelrahman Saleh and Renato Junior in place of Hugo Neto and Nicolas Giménez.
Palacios scored for Al Wasl with a precise header from a corner kick in the forty-sixth minute.
Al Wasl continued pressing, but Ibrahim Ghbadamosi scored Al Zawraa’s second goal in the sixty-fifth minute.
Miguel Borja netted Al Wasl’s second goal in the sixty-seventh minute after a beautiful cross from Serginho, finishing with a powerful left-footed shot into the Al Zawraa net.
Al Zawraa retreated under Al Wasl’s pressure and adopted a defensive approach, but Adryelson scored Al Wasl’s third goal in the ninety-second minute, assisted by Pedro Malheiro, sending the match into extra time.
Coach Rui Vitória then substituted Miguel Borja, bringing on Tahnoon Al Zaabi to strengthen the attack.
Al Wasl continued searching for the winning goal, and in the one-hundredth minute Gabriel Vareta attempted a header from a corner taken by Serginho.
In the second period of extra time, Adryelson scored Al Wasl’s fourth goal — his second of the match — with a powerful header following a precise cross from Pedro Malheiro after a set piece in the one-hundred-ninth minute.
With this result, Al Wasl advances to face the winner of the match between Al Nassr FC and Arkadag FK.
