As part of Al Wasl’s preparations for its opening match in the AFC Champions League 2 against Iran’s Esteghlal Tehran scheduled for tomorrow at 8:00 PM at Za'abeel Stadium head coach Luís Castro and star player Fábio Lima spoke at the pre-match press conference about the team’s readiness.

Coach Castro emphasized the importance of the match for the team, noting that victory at this stage reflects the ability to advance and compete in the later rounds.

“We will play with full determination and persistence to win, because success in the group stage means progress and participation in the upcoming rounds and this is exactly what we are striving for with absolute commitment,” 
Castro stated.

He added: “We are fully aware of our responsibility, and our confidence in the team is high. We saw a remarkable improvement in our last match from start to finish. We will work hard to win and continue our journey in this tournament.”

For his part, Al Wasl’s winger Fábio Lima stressed the significance of the match, especially since it will be played at Za'abeel Stadium, considering that winning and securing the three points is a fundamental goal for the team.

“This match is very important for us, particularly because it will be played on our home ground. Winning and claiming the three points is essential,” Lima said.

He continued: “We know the competition is tough and every team in this tournament aims to win. Our opponent has the same ambition, but since we are playing at home, we hope to secure victory.”

Lima concluded: “We will give our maximum effort and do everything possible to achieve victory and succeed in the competition.”
